GREENGUARD Certification
GREENGUARD Environmental Institute establishes acceptable indoor air standards for:
building materials
interior products
electronic equipment
indoor environments
buildings

Parata Max®, the first and only next-generation pharmacy automation, recently joined Parata RDS as the only pharmacy automation products to earn GREENGUARD™ certification for indoor air quality, in addition to the even more stringent GREENGUARD Children and Schools℠ certification. (Interestingly, of the products that seek GREENGUARD Children and Schools Certification, about 60 percent cannot initially meet the rigorous requirements of the program upon testing.) Parata automation is certified under the electronic equipment category.

The mission of GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is to improve public health and quality of life through programs that improve indoor air.

GREENGUARD Standards
To garner the certification, Parata RDS® and Parata Max® underwent rigorous testing by Air Quality Science, an accredited, independent laboratory, and exceeded every standard set forth by GREENGUARD.

The simulation involved placing Parata's units in a "clean room" chamber where air sampling could be conducted over time to measure emissions before, during and after the unit processed the equivalent of a 1,000-prescription day. Parata’s products were "low-emitting" in every air-quality measurement. In meeting GREENGUARD's standards, Parata is among an elite group of companies that have certified multiple products, including 3M, BASF, Lenovo, Mohawk, Owens Corning and Samsung.

AQS Testing Standards
Parata's products underwent rigorous testing by Air Quality Sciences, an accredited, independent laboratory, and exceeded every standard set forth by GREENGUARD. Air Quality Science, the scientific testing partner for GREENGUARD, is ISO 17025 accredited, the highest quality standard for laboratories.

Standard deviation between test results is equal to or less than 5 percent, ensuring a consistent, replicable process.

Air Quality Science testing standards and methodologies meet or exceed global specifications of:
OSHA
U.S. EPA
ACGIH (American Counsel for Government Industrial Hygienists)
Germany's Blue Angel program

The standard establishes certification procedures, including:
test methods
allowable emissions levels
product sample collection and handling
testing type and frequency
program application processes and acceptance
